Imitrex is the typically prefered among the first class drugs for treating Migraine headaches but it can also treat regular headaches with its course of action. It can be preferred over other drugs for a regular headache provided there aren't any other analgesics available. It is a curative medicine and cannot be used to prevent headaches.
